Youth Program Services
Teen Hotline The Teen Hotline is staffed by trained crisis counselors 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, to provide callers with crisis counseling assistance and information about community resources.
Follow Up Calls Follow up calls are made to hotline callers who have been assessed as being at risk for attempting suicide. We re-contact these callers within a few days of their initial call to stress our 24 hour availability and our on-going concern for their well-being.
Project "SHARE" (Skills, Hope, Awareness, Resilience, Education) Project SHARE is a multi-faceted strategy to support and educate local middle and high school students. The services offered through project SHARE are as follows:
Solutions Unlimited Now (S.U.N) Support Groups These groups provide support and education to students who have been identified as being "at-risk" for engaging in negative, damaging behavior. S.U.N. groups employ a ten-step problem solving curriculum aimed at empowering young people to find positive solutions to the challenges they encounter in their daily lives.
Suicide Education Presentations These presentations educate young people about the scope of the adolescent suicide problem; provide information on suicide warning signs; and instruct students on how to assist peers who are exhibiting warning signs.
Post Crisis Care Post Crisis Care is offered following the traumatic death of a member of the school community, most often that of a student, administrator, or staff member. Upon request, Youth Program staff report to the affected school^s campus and meet with individuals or groups of students in an effort to assist them as they begin the grieving process.
